Using PSP Texture Effects

You will need Paint Shop Pro 7 for this tutorial.

This tutorial requires no other filters.  There are some wonderful effects that are included with Paint Shop Pro and it uses them.

Step 1

Open a new image 150 X 150 with a transparent background.

Step 2

Flood fill with a dark color of your choice.

Step 3

We are going to double click on our selection tools to make stripes. A window like this will open. Set to the following settings, the flood fill the selected area with a lighter shade of your original color

Repeat this step decreasing the right and left settings by 25 and using a lighter shade until you flood fill at right and left to 25

Your tile should look something like this

Step 4

Go to Effects/Artistic Effects/Brush Strokes and choose Impasto

This is what you should have.

Step 5

Go to Effects/Geometric Effects/Wave and use the following settings:

Horizontal Displacement: Amplitude 30 Wavelength 25. Vertical Displacement: Amplitude 0 Wavelength 25


Step 6

Go to Effects/Reflection Effects/Rotating Mirror and set both the Horizontal and Vertical Offset to 0 and  the Rotation Angle to 180.

Step 7

Repeat Step 6, but this time set the Rotation Angle to 270

You should have something like this.

Step 8

Go to Effects/Reflection Effects/Pattern and set Horizontal and Vertical Offset to 0, Rotation Angle to 90, Scale factor to 0, Columns and Rows to 3 and Horizontal and Vertical Shift to 0.

You can use your tile the way it is.  To achieve different effect go to the next page to see settings for the different Texture Effects that come with PSP
