You may send
a link to this tutorial through email and to e
groups, you may not send the tutorial.
If you have any questions please email
me.
This
tutorial is done using PSP 7. It assumes that you are
familiar with Paint Shop Pro.
You will
need the two following files,
My
quilt rack selections
Unzip them
into a folder of your choice.
My
quilt rack bevel presets
Unzip into
your Paint Shop Pro Presets folder.
You will
need a wood pattern of your choice. Either the
Stained Wood or the Finished wood that comes with Paint Shop Pro
works well.
You will also need a pattern of your choice to
use for the runner on the top and the straps for holding your
quilt if you need. I offer a variety of
background tiles that would work well for this purpose.
You can get to them from here.
The one I used above can be located here.
Step 1
Open a new
image 650 X 260
Ser your
foreground to the wood pattern of your choice. Angle set
to 0.
Step 2
Add a new
layer. Rename Pole.
Load
pole.sel.
Flood fill
with your wood pattern.
Go to
Effects/Inner Bevel and choose quiltpole form the drop down
list.
Step 3
Add a new
layer. Rename Ends.
Load
pole-ends.sel.
Flood fill
and apply same bevel from step 2.
Step 4
Add new layer. Rename Sides
Load sides.sel.
Set the angle of your wood pattern to 90.
Flood fill and apply same bevel from step
2.
Step 5
Add new layer. Rename Base.
Load base.sel
Set the angle of your wood back to 0.
Flood fill and apply quiltrack bevel.
While still selected go to
Selections/Modify/Contract and contract by 2 pixels.
Go to Selections/ Invert and delete.
Step 6
(If you
want to add a cut out to your quilt rack continue here)
Add new layer. Rename Back.
Load back.sel.
Flood fill and apply same bevel from step
5.
On same layer load backdelete.sel then
delete.
You can save at this step if you wish, the
following steps add the straps and runner.
Step 7
Add new layer. Rename Straps.
Load straps.sel.
Flood fill with a pattern of color of your
choice.
Step 8
Add new layer. Rename Runner.
Load runner.sel.
Flood fill with a pattern of color of your
choice.
Bonus. adding a cute
out to your Quilt Rack.
You can easily add a cut out to the back of
your quilt rack.
That's it. If you save as a PSP file
you can easily change to pattern on the runner and the
straps. You can also add layers to decorate the shelf on
your quilt rack.

Step
6 with a Cut Out
Add new layer. Rename Back.
Load back.sel.
Flood fill with same wood pattern.
Add a new layer and from your Preset Shapes
choose one for your cutout. A heart or a star works
nicely. Make sure that antialias is checked.
Setting your foreground to null and your
background to a solid color and draw your shape to a size which
is appropriate for your cut out. Move it to the center top
of your back.
Go to Selections/Select All then
Selections/Float.
On your layers palette and click on your
Back layer then delete.
Click on your Floating Selection layer,
then go to Selections/Select None. Go to
Layer/Delete
Go to Selections/Select All then Selections
Float and apply same bevel from step 5.
On same layer load backdelete.sel then
delete.
