Making a Globe in PSP 7
This is a fairly simple way to create a globe. You will need to have a sparkle plug in. I have included it, the image I used, and the base I used along with two others linked below.
Ok first thing I did was open up my graphic.
It is bigger than what i want so I am going to resize it 50%
Now I am ready to make the globe part. Use the preset shapes
button
and from the tools option, choose
the following shape. If you leave it set as shown, it is really easy to
drag the image around to make your globe.
Use this shape to select the area of your picture that is going to make up your globe.
You can also use the following preset shape.
After you have drawn and resize your globe, you need to open your Layer Palette and reset the opacity on the right side to at least 50 so your picture shows through.
When you have decided on what part you want then go up to Selections >Select None. Now go to Layers>Merge>Merge Visible. That's the first part of your globe.
Next thing is to make your base. I have included three different ones that you can use or you can make your own. I made mine from Wingdings fonts. I have found the easiest way to use them is to open the Character map which is found under Start>Programs>Assecories>System Tools. Then all you have to do is choose the one you like select and copy it.
I am going to use this one to make my base –.
Open a new image with the following properties
Once your window is open, then choose Text and insert your font, the one above can also be done by using Alt+0150 to type it in. I set the font size to 100, you have to type it in, and both the stroke and fill color to R 162, G 163, B 89.
Once the text is in my image, I then set it down toward the bottom so I have room to work.
Now open another new image and put the same font in it. Now go to Image>Mirror and flip it sideways. Then use your Selection tool in a rectangle and highlight it to copy.
Copy the image and paste it as a new layer (Edit>Paste>New Layer) with your other one.
Now move it so that it is joined with the other one and merge the layers like we did above with the globe.
Now to make it look gold. Use the Magic Wand tool to click on the gold. then go to Effects>Texture Effects>Sculpture and choose Gold from the drop down list. then go back to Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel and choose Angled from the drop down list.
There is your base. You can flip and rotate the fonts however you want to make different bases.
Now back to your globe. Use the Selection tool again, but this time use an ellipse. Play around until you highlight most of the globe. This is a lot of guess and do again until you are pleased with what you have.
After that copy and paste it as a new layer on your base and move it down to rest on the base. You can use Layers>Arrange>Move Down to palce it behind your base.
Now select none so nothing as little ants running around it and lets add the sparkles.
Make sure you have put the sparkles in the file above into your PSP Plugin folder. If you do not have one then go ahead and make a new folder called Plugin under Paint Shop Pro. It is usually found under Program Files> Jasc Software Inc>Paint Shop Pro.
Back to the sparkles, choose Effects>Plug-in Filters>VM Natural>Sparkle. When it opens play around until you like the way it looks then click ok.
Then go to File>Export>Gift Optimizer to save. I usually save it as globe 1 because I make three identical ones except for the sparkles for the animation.
When you have saved it use the undo button to clear your sparkles and do the sparkles and saving two more times.

This is all you have to do in PSP so you can close it and open Animation Shop 3.
When you have it open, choose Animation Wizard under file. As you click through make sure you choose Transparent for the default canvas color. When it comes to add image add the three globes you made above. Then continue clicking until it finishes. Then go ahead and save your globe.
You can resize anytime before you save the first globe to make it the size you want, but resize before you save.
